Q: What kinds of clothing should I wear?  What looks good?
 
A: Most importantly – make sure the clothing fits you well.  Make sure your clothing flatters you.  For instance, if you think you have large arms, avoid sleeveless styles as they can make your arms look fuller.
...Try to avoid stripes and plaid.  Solids photograph much better!  Neutral colors tend to be the best.  White seems to make people in photographs appear larger than they really are.  Avoid large, bold brand names or words on clothing (no need to turn your portraits into free advertising for a clothing brand!)
...If you wear a t-shirt, use a dark t-shirt to wear under dark shirts.  That white t-shirt triangle under a dark shirt really sticks out!
...Some shots are close up, others are full length.  Plan what you will wear accordingly.
...For family portraits, just try to wear something that makes all of you look like you're "on the same team."  One person wearing stripes, another plaid, and another wearing polka-dots can make your portrait look, uh, well, confusing!
...Best tip for jewelery is to keep it simple. We want the attention on you.  Big, shiny jewelry can distract from the real subject . . . YOU.
...And ladies - Remember that your nails might show!  If they have the polish chipped off here and there, it could show.  Some casual shots may be done barefoot in warm weather, so don't forget about those toes!  Avoid overly bright colors.  Natural or basic colors work the best.  You certainly don't want to draw attention to your neon orange toe nails!
Q: What other tips do you know that can make my portraits look good?
Q: How long before I can see my proofs?  
 
A: You can preview the shots right after I take them on my camera.  Just be aware that they're unedited, small, and not color-corrected. 
Proofs can be ready to view digitally within a week or so - after I am finished "developing" them digitially.  If you prefer printed proofs, I can have them for a very reasonable price.  (My Senior Portraits actually include a proofbook!)  This only takes a little over a week to get the proof book printed and in your hands.
 
 
 
 
Q: How long before I get my prints or my Story Book?
A: Depending on the order itself, it shouldn't take more than 10 business days for standard prints to reach you after you order them.  If you need your prints super fast, an additional $25 can get you those photos...usually within a day or two!  Other items such as gallery wraps (canvas prints,) brush stroke canvas, etc. can take up to two weeks depending on the item.  Book-Bound Story Books are much more involved and can take up to 6 weeks due to the high quality hand-made construction.  Press-print albums are generally available in under two weeks after ordering.
